how to Select

Pick a melon that is round to slightly oval and does not have bruises or overly soft spots. Look for well-developed, uniform coverage of the netting. Skin color should range from light green to straw yellow in color. Melons should not have a stem attached; if they do, they were picked too early.

how to pRepaRe

Use in smoothies with other fruit. Cut cantaloupes in half and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center.

how to StoRe

To ripen a cantaloupe, place the whole melon inside a loosely closed paper bag. Once cut, cantaloupes won't ripen, so store cut fruit or fully ripe whole cantaloupes in tightly sealed plastic bags inside your refrigerator.
