Nothing makes your mouth water on a hot day like fresh Del Monte® seedless watermelons with their refreshing, sweet taste. Watermelons are so exceptionally juicy, with a 92% water content, that early explorers actually used them as canteens. This refreshing fruit can be enjoyed in many ways, but is most popular in drinks and smoothies, or as a summer snack straight from the fridge.

  • Excellent source of vitamin C
  • Good source of vitamins A and potassium
  • Top source of lycopene, which is a potent antioxidant that several studies have shown may reduce the risk of heart disease

how to Select

The melon should be hard to firm, with no sunken or soft areas. To check for ripeness, find the spot where the watermelon laid on the ground while growing; this spot should be a creamy yellow color rather than a white or pale green.

how to pRepaRe

Wash, rinse, and dry the watermelon before cutting. To remove the rind from the entire melon, cut off both ends just until you reach the pink fruit. Using a sharp knife, slice from the top to the bottom just where the fruit meets the skin. Cut as desired.

how to StoRe

Whole watermelons are best stored in the refrigerator, but can be stored on the counter or pantry for short periods of time.
